The figure is rendered in the classicising style favoured by Flavian die-engravers, with drapery folds carefully articulated. The surrounding legend TR P VIIII IMP XV COS VII P P encircles the field, enumerating Titus's principal constitutional titles for his ninth year of tribunician power. The reverse field is relatively plain, focusing attention on the central personification. The coin as a whole reflects the political messaging of the early reign of Titus, emphasising peace and imperial legitimacy. |
