This reverse type alludes to the Ludi Saeculares games celebrated by Titus in AD 80 and carries strong religious and ceremonial connotations. The encircling legend, divided around the device, records Titus's accumulated imperial titles. The flan shows corrosion and surface deposits consistent with excavated or long-circulated silver of the first century AD. |
