| Descrizione del rovescio | A large round military shield, rendered in concentric circles with a central boss, occupies the centre of the field. Two pairs of crossed spears or javelins are depicted diagonally, their tips extending beyond the rim of the shield at the cardinal points. The legend S P Q R is distributed in the four quadrants between the spear shafts, one letter per quadrant. The bold, austere reverse composition evokes the military authority of the Roman senate and people, consistent with the anonymous coinage of the civil war period AD 68–69. |
