追加情報

The Eravisci were a Celtic tribe settled in Pannonia, in the region around modern Budapest, who began producing silver coinage in close imitation of Roman Republican denarii sometime in the late first century BC. The copies are remarkably faithful — faithful enough that misattribution remained common in older collections. What separates Eraviscian issues from their Roman models is a gradual degradation of the legends into meaningless sequences of letters, suggesting the engravers were copying shapes rather than reading text.

The tribe likely adopted the denarius format to facilitate trade with Roman merchants pushing into the Danubian frontier ahead of formal provincial organization.
