Obverse description Draped bust of King Rhescuporis II facing right, depicted with long hair falling to the shoulder in the Hellenistic royal tradition. The effigy is rendered in low relief with a somewhat provincial style characteristic of Bosporan coinage of the early third century. The circular Greek legend BACIΛЄѠC PHCKOVΠOPIΔOC surrounds the portrait, identifying the ruler as king. The flan is irregularly shaped and the relief is moderately worn, consistent with circulated copper issues of this kingdom.
