| 背面描述 | Quintus Cornuficius standing left, draped and wearing the priestly veil, holding a lituus (augural staff) in his right hand, denoting his office as augur. To his right stands Juno Sospita, depicted in her distinctive attributes: goatskin headdress, spear and shield in her left hand, and with her right hand placing a crown upon Cornuficius; a crow, sacred to Juno, perches upon her shoulder. The legend Q•CORNVFICI•AVGVR•IMP arcs around the design in the field. The reverse is enclosed by a border of dots. |

Quintus Cornuficius was one of the more obscure players in the chaos following Caesar's assassination, governing Africa Vetus as a loyalist of the Senate faction while the triumvirs consolidated power elsewhere. He held the province against repeated pressure until 42 BC — the very year of this issue — before being defeated and killed by the Caesarian general T. Sextius. The title IMP on this coin reflects an acclamation his troops awarded him for military success he ultimately could not sustain.
