The surrounding legend reads IMP CAES C PESC NIGER IUST AVG, disposed clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The portrait, struck at the Antioch mint, exhibits the somewhat provincial die-cutting style characteristic of eastern Roman coinage during the civil wars of 193–194 AD. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, as is typical of hastily produced usurper coinage. |
