| Beschrijving voorzijde | Laureate and draped bust of Pescennius Niger facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Antioch mint. The effigy displays the emperor with short hair beneath the laurel wreath and a paludamentum fastened at the shoulder. The surrounding legend reads IMP CAES C PESC NIGER IVST AVG, disposed clockwise around the periphery within a border of dots. The workmanship, while competent, reflects the somewhat cruder engraving typical of coins struck hastily during the civil war of the Year of the Five Emperors. |
