Obverse description Laureate head of Pescennius Niger facing right, with short beard, the bust truncated at the shoulder. The effigy is rendered in a somewhat provincial style characteristic of Syrian mint production, with a boldly modelled laurel wreath. The circular legend runs around the periphery within a beaded border.
