| Beschrijving voorzijde | Laureate and draped bust of Pescennius Niger facing right, rendered with a full beard and strongly modelled facial features characteristic of the Antonine portraiture tradition. The effigy displays the emperor in cuirassed military dress, visible at the shoulder. A partially legible Latin legend encircles the bust in the field, identifying the emperor with his full imperial titulature. The die-cutting is consistent with the provincial workshop at Antioch, showing somewhat irregular engraving typical of this brief reign. The flan is slightly uneven, with the legend partially off-flan on the left. |
