| 裏面の説明 | Ceres, draped in long robes, standing left in a dignified frontal pose with head turned slightly downward. In her extended right hand she holds two corn-ears, emblems of agricultural abundance and divine patronage of the harvest, while her left hand supports a cornucopia overflowing with fruits and grain. The figure is rendered in the classical Roman style, with flowing drapery articulated in fine folds. The abbreviated legend CERES AVG appears in the field, identifying the goddess in her imperial guise as protector of the Roman state. |

Otho's reign lasted 95 days. He seized power in January 69 AD by engineering the assassination of Galba, then killed himself in April after his forces were routed at the First Battle of Bedriacum — choosing suicide, according to Suetonius, to spare further Roman bloodshed. The Ceres type belongs to a very small handful of issues he managed to authorize before that end, struck at Rome in the chaotic opening months of the Year of the Four Emperors.
