A control-mark appears behind the head, and a moneyer's mark is placed below. The legend C•NORBANVS identifying the moneyer Gaius Norbanus is inscribed in the field, preceded by the control letter T. The design is contained within a border of dots.

Reverse description A vertically oriented fasces with an axe, the traditional symbol of magisterial authority, occupies the central field. A corn-ear (grain spike) is placed to the left of the fasces and a caduceus to the right, together alluding to themes of prosperity and commerce. The reverse is anepigraphic, bearing no legend or inscription. The design is executed in the bold, clean style typical of late Republican silver coinage.
