| Reverse description | Standing figure of Libertas, the personification of public liberty, depicted facing left in long flowing robes. She holds a pileus (freedman's cap) in her right hand and a long sceptre or rod in her left hand, both attributes emblematic of liberty and emancipation. The figure is rendered in the classical tradition of Roman allegorical reverse types. The legend LIBERTAS PVBLICA is inscribed in the field to either side of the figure, referencing the restoration of public freedoms under Nerva following the reign of Domitian. |
