| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two clasped right hands (dextrarum iunctio) holding an aquila (legionary eagle standard) mounted on a ship's prow (rostrum), oriented to the left. This reverse type was issued by Nerva to celebrate the concordia — harmony and loyalty — between the emperor and the Roman armies, a politically significant message given the military tensions at the outset of his reign. The legend CONCORDIA EXERCITVVM is distributed around the field in the periphery. The design is boldly struck in high relief, with the aquila and prow rendered with fine detail despite the irregular flan. |
