Beschrijving voorzijde Laureate head of Emperor Nerva facing right, rendered in the naturalistic portrait style characteristic of Flavian-era Roman coinage. The emperor's features are depicted with careful attention to individual likeness, showing an aged physiognomy with defined facial lines. The obverse legend encircles the portrait, commencing at the lower left and running clockwise around the field.

Opschrift voorzijde IMP NERVA CAES AVG PM TR P COS II P P
(Translation: Imperator Nerva Caesar Augustus, Pontifex Maximus, Tribunicia Potestate, Consul Secundum, Pater Patriae. Supreme commander (Imperator) Nerva, Caesar, emperor (Augustus), high priest, holder of tribunician power, consul for the second time, father of the nation.)
Beschrijving keerzijde Two clasped right hands (dextrarum iunctio) grasping an aquila (legionary eagle) mounted upon a naval prow (rostrum) oriented to the left, symbolising the concordance between the new emperor and the Roman legions. The composition is compact and boldly struck within the circular field, with the legend distributed around the periphery. This type was issued early in Nerva's reign to signal reconciliation and loyalty with the military following the turbulent end of Domitian's principate.
