Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Nerva facing right, the portrait rendered with characteristic aged features including a prominent brow and slight dewlap, consistent with the naturalistic style of Flavian-era die-engraving. The bust is bare-shouldered, with the laurel wreath rendered in fine detail across the emperor's thinning hair. The encircling legend is inscribed in crisp Latin characters around the periphery of the flan, reading from lower left. The flan exhibits the typical irregular, hand-struck character of Roman imperial silver coinage of the late first century AD.
