正面描述 Bare-headed bust of Nero facing right, with characteristic thick neck and heavy jowls rendered in the official portrait style of his mature reign. The emperor's hair is shown in the typical Neronian fashion with short curls across the forehead and longer locks swept behind the ear. The legend encircles the portrait within a beaded border, and the effigy displays the draped shoulder at the bust truncation. The flan, though irregular in shape as characteristic of hammered Roman silver, carries a well-centred portrait of strong relief.

附加信息

The "EX S C" inscription — meaning the issue was struck "by decree of the Senate" — appears on a cluster of Neronian denarii from the early 60s AD, reflecting a brief and somewhat anomalous constitutional arrangement in which the Senate formally authorized precious metal coinage. Whether this represented genuine shared authority or political theater on Nero's part remains debated. By the late 60s the formula had vanished from imperial silver entirely.

This specific tribunician dating places the coin between December 62 and December 63 — before the great fire of Rome and the persecutions that followed.
