| Beschrijving keerzijde | The personification of Virtus, helmeted and clad in military dress, stands facing left in a commanding pose. Her right foot rests upon a helmet placed among a shield on the ground. She holds a long spear in her left hand and a parazonium (short military sword) in her right hand, the blade resting upon her right knee. The composition conveys martial virtue and imperial valor in the classicizing style characteristic of early Neronian coinage. The reverse legend, disposed around the periphery, records Nero's principal titles and notes the issue was struck by decree of the Senate. |
