正面描述 Laureate bust of Nero facing right, depicted with a draped shoulder, rendered in the portrait style characteristic of his later reign. The emperor's effigy displays the distinctive thick neck and idealized facial features associated with Neronian coinage of the AD 60s. The circular legend NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS runs around the periphery of the flan, with the legend beginning at the lower left. The portrait is boldly struck, occupying the greater part of the obverse field.

附加信息

This issue dates to the period immediately following the great fire of Rome in 64 AD, when Nero was actively managing a public relations catastrophe of the first order. The CONCORDIA AVGVSTA type was part of a broader propaganda push emphasizing imperial harmony and divine favor at a moment when Nero faced serious questions about his own role in the disaster. It was also around this time that he began the systematic debasement of the denarius, reducing silver content in ways that would compound over successive reigns into a full monetary crisis — making these pre-debasement or early-debasement Neronian denarii transitional pieces in Roman monetary history.
