Reverse description Two standing figures face one another in the field: at left, a radiate male figure identified as Augustus or Sol, draped and raising his right hand in salutation while holding a long sceptre or spear in his left; at right, a draped female figure identified as Poppaea Augusta, extending her right hand toward the male figure and holding a patera or cornucopiae in her left. The scene is rendered in a classical style with fine drapery folds. The Latin legend AVGVSTVS AVGVSTA is distributed in the field on either side of the figures, proclaiming the divine status of the emperor and the empress.
