(Translation: Nero, Caesar and emperor.)
Reverse description Two standing figures face one another in the field, identified as Nero and Poppaea Sabina, shown in the guise of Jupiter and Juno or as Augustus and Livia, reflecting the dynastic and divine pretensions of the Neronian court. The figures are rendered in a formal, hieratic style, with drapery rendered in broad folds consistent with mid-first-century AD engraving. A small figure or attribute appears between the two main figures at the lower center of the composition. The legend AVGVSTVS AVGVSTA is distributed around the reverse field, asserting the imperial titles of both emperor and empress. The coin exhibits characteristic surface toning and minor die wear consistent with its age and circulation.
