Obverse description Laureate head of Quirinus facing slightly right, rendered with flowing wavy hair and a full beard, depicted in the late Republican engraving style with bold, naturalistic relief. A laurel wreath crowns the head, referencing the deified Romulus in his aspect as Quirinus. The legend C•MEMMI•C•F QVIRINVS encircles the effigy, identifying both the moneyer Gaius Memmius, son of Gaius, and the divine subject. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of hand-struck Republican silver coinage of this period.
