正面描述 Bare head of one of the Dioscuri facing right, the hair rendered in flowing locks adorned with an olive wreath; a prominent eight-rayed star appears in the upper left field. 附加信息

Struck during the Social War, this coin is the product of a coalition of Italian allies — Samnites, Marsi, Paeligni, and others — who revolted against Rome after being denied citizenship. The confederation established its own mint, its own magistrates, and issued coinage in deliberate competition with the Roman denarius, right down to the weight standard. That choice was not incidental; it was a declaration of fiscal and political parity.

The war ended not through Roman military victory but through concession: the Lex Julia of 90 BC and the Lex Plautia Papiria of 89 BC extended citizenship to most Italian allies, effectively granting what the revolt had demanded. Confederation coinage ceased almost immediately after.
