Obverse description Helmeted head of Italia facing left, wearing a crested Italic helmet adorned with a feather plume and cheek guards, rendered in bold relief typical of Social War coinage. The hair falls in thick wavy locks behind the neck, and a numeral mark appears to the right of the bust in the field. The legend ITALIA is inscribed, asserting the rebel confederation's claim to a unified Italian identity. The flan is struck within a beaded border. The engraving reflects the vigorous, if somewhat rustic, die-cutting style characteristic of the Italic mints active during the Social War.
