| Beschrijving keerzijde | Mars, nude save for his crested helmet, strides vigorously to the right in the pose of the advancing war god. In his raised right hand he carries a javelin, and his left arm bears a round clipeus shield; a parazonium (short sword) is depicted to the left of the figure. The composition reflects the Augustan iconographic tradition of Mars Ultor, here adapted to the civil-war coinage of 68–69 AD. The field legend MARS VLTOR flanks the deity in crisp Latin capitals. |
