Obverse description A war galley (praetorian galley) depicted in profile facing right, with oars extended along the hull and a scepter tied with a fillet (vittae) prominently displayed on the prow. The legend ANT. AVG. III VIR. R. P. C. is distributed around the periphery in two arcs — ANT. AVG. above and III VIR. R. P. C. below — all within a border of dots. The die engraving is bold and characteristic of a mobile military mint, with slightly coarse but confident workmanship.
