| Obverse description | Bare head of Mark Antony facing right, rendered in bold relief with strongly characterised features including a prominent nose, full lips, and short wavy hair. The portrait is encircled by a beaded border, with the Latin legend reading around the periphery from left to right. The effigy occupies the majority of the flan, typical of the assertive portraiture associated with late Republican military coinage struck at a moving mint in the service of Antony's eastern campaigns. |
