Reverse description Sol, the sun god, depicted in a facing quadriga rising dramatically from the waves of the sea, his head turned slightly to the right, rendered in dynamic perspective characteristic of late-Republican die engraving. In the upper left field, the denomination mark X (denarius); in the upper right field, a crescent symbol. A single star appears in the field to each side of the quadriga horses. Below the horses, the moneyer's partial legend features MA in monogram and NL in ligature. The full reverse legend A•MANLI•Q•F identifies the moneyer Aulus Manlius, son of Quintus, running along the lower exergual area.
