| Obverse description | Lion's head facing right, rendered in bold relief with a flowing mane depicted in stylized curling strands radiating around the face. The head fills the central field of the flan with characteristic force, serving as the personal emblem of Lucius Clodius Macer. The circular Latin legend surrounds the device, with the senatorial authorization mark S C visible in the lower field. The die-work is vigorous though somewhat roughly executed, consistent with the emergency military mint production of AD 68. |
