Obverse description Laureate and veiled head of Julius Caesar facing right, rendered in high relief with fine engraving depicting aged facial features including a prominent nose and strong jaw. The wreath of laurel sits atop carefully striated hair, consistent with Caesar's posthumous divine iconography. The surrounding legend reads CAESAR to the right and DICT•PERPETVO to the left, denoting his appointment as Dictator in Perpetuity. A finely beaded border frames the entire design. This obverse represents one of the earliest authenticated portrait likenesses of a living Roman on official coinage.
