Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of King Juba II facing right, wearing a broad diadem with flowing ties visible behind the neck, his hair rendered in fine parallel strands in the Hellenistic style. The portrait is executed with considerable artistic refinement, reflecting Juba's Romanized cultural milieu. The Latin legend REX IVBA is disposed vertically in the right field, reading downward. The entire design is enclosed within a border of large, evenly spaced beads.
