Obverse description Diademed bare head of King Juba II facing right, rendered in a refined Hellenistic style with finely detailed wavy hair bound by a royal diadem. The effigy is portrayed with naturalistic facial features characteristic of late Hellenistic portraiture. The Latin legend REX IVBA runs along the right field, arranged vertically.
