| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bare head of Juba II in the guise of the youthful Herakles facing right, wearing the Nemean lion's skin headdress with the scalp drawn over the crown and the forepaws knotted at the throat. The portrait is rendered in a Hellenistic style, with idealized features and finely detailed hair beneath the pelt. The legend REX · IVBA is disposed in the field to the right of the effigy. The flan is bordered by a partial beaded inner circle typical of Mauretanian royal coinage of this period. |
