| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Juba II facing right, wearing a beaded diadem and elaborate coiffure with wavy locks falling behind the neck in the Hellenistic royal tradition. The effigy is rendered in a refined classical style reflecting the king's Romanized cultural milieu. The Latin legend REX IVBA arcs around the right field, identifying the monarch by name and title. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of hammered Mauretanian silver coinage of this period. |
