Obverse description Bare head of Juba II assimilated to Herakles, facing right, wearing the Nemean lion-skin headdress with the scalp covering the crown and forehead; the knotted forepaws draped across the neck. A Herculean club is visible behind the head. The legend REX IVBA runs in the field, identifying the king. The portrait combines Hellenistic royal iconography with the attributes of the hero Herakles, reflecting Juba II's dynastic and cultural aspirations.

Reverse description Central type depicts an upright Herculean club, prominently displayed at centre, draped with the lion skin whose paws hang at the sides. To the right stands an unstrung bow, and to the left an arrow pointing upward alongside the regnal year numeral XXXXII (year 42 of Juba II's reign, corresponding to 17 AD). The legend R(EX) appears at upper left. The composition is enclosed within a beaded border and the entire design alludes to the Heraklean mythology embraced by the Mauretanian royal house.
