正面描述 Bare and diademed head of King Juba II facing right, rendered in a Hellenistic portrait style with finely detailed hair swept back and secured by a diadem, the ties falling behind the neck. The legend REX IVBA appears in the right field, reading upward in retrograde orientation, framed by a beaded border. The portrait is of high artistic quality, reflecting the Greco-Roman cultural milieu of the Mauretanian court.

附加信息

Juba II ruled Mauretania as a client king under Augustus and Tiberius — educated in Rome, fluent in Greek, and the author of scholarly works on geography, natural history, and theatre. His son Ptolemy, shown here as co-regent, would later be summoned to Rome by Caligula and executed in 40 AD, an act that triggered a prolonged and costly revolt across the province. This joint issue dates to the final years of Juba's reign, when the succession was being formally established.

The SNG Copenhagen gap is notable — no example was available for that catalogue.
