Obverse description Diademed and bare-shouldered effigy of King Juba II facing right, rendered in Hellenistic portrait style with elaborately coiffed hair secured by a royal diadem. The portrait displays strong, individualistic features characteristic of the Mauretanian royal coinage. The Latin legend REX IVBA encircles the portrait in the field, reading downward on the right side of the coin.
