| Beschrijving keerzijde | The personification of Tranquillitas (Tranquility) stands facing left in the field, clad in a long draped chiton and himation. In her right hand she holds a long vertical sceptre, while her left arm rests upon a column to her side, conveying an attitude of serene composure. The figure is rendered in the classical Roman style with flowing drapery falling to her feet. The encircling Latin legend, separated by a dotted border on the right, identifies the type and records Hadrian's imperial titulature. The composition is set within a plain field with a beaded inner border partially visible on the right arc. |
