Obverse description Bare-headed and draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, with the emperor's characteristic short beard and curled hair rendered in fine relief. The portrait displays the mature, idealized effigy of Hadrian as seen on his third consulship coinage, with drapery visible on the left shoulder. The circumferential Latin legend reads HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS, distributed around the rim of the flan. The die work reflects the accomplished engraving style of the Rome mint during Hadrian's reign, with the bust rendered in a three-quarter view that emphasizes the emperor's strong profile.
