| Obverse description | Bare-headed and laureate bust of Emperor Hadrian facing left, rendered with characteristic short curly hair and cropped beard in the Hellenistic philosophical style distinctive of his portraiture. The emperor's neck and shoulders are visible, with the laurel wreath clearly articulated across the brow. The encircling Latin legend runs along the periphery of the flan. The die-work displays strong, confident engraving typical of the Rome mint in the later Hadrianic period. |
