| Reverse description | The goddess Roma personified is depicted seated left upon a throne or cuirass, rendered in flowing drapery that cascades over her lower body. In her extended right hand she holds an olive branch, symbol of prosperity and peace, while her left arm supports a cornucopia, the attribute of abundance. The figure is seated upon what appears to be a cuirass or shield, placed on a ground line, and the composition fills the field with assured, confident die-cutting typical of the Roman mint under Hadrian. The encircling legend ROMA FELIX, meaning 'Happy Rome' or 'Fortunate Rome', is disposed in the field to left and right of the central figure. |
