Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Hadrian facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristic curly hair and short beard visible at the jaw. The emperor's effigy is depicted with paludamentum (military cloak) fastened at the shoulder, conveying imperial authority. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait along the inner border of the coin, running from the lower left around the upper field. The flan is irregular and slightly broad, typical of early Hadrianic issues struck at the Rome Mint in the transitional year of 117 AD.
