| Obverse description | Laureate, cuirassed bust of Hadrian facing right, viewed from the front, with paludamentum visible at the left shoulder. The emperor's facial features are rendered with characteristic realism, showing a short beard. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The flan edges are slightly irregular, as is typical of early Hadrianic coinage struck shortly after his accession. |
