| Obverse lettering | IMP CAES TRAIAN HADRIANO AVG DIVI TRA (Translation: Imperator, Caesar, Traianus Hadriano Augustus, Divi Traiani [Filius]. Supreme commander (Imperator), Caesar, Trajan Hadrian, emperor (Augustus), [son of] divine Trajan.) |
| Reverse description | The personification of Iustitia (Justice) is depicted seated left on a high-backed throne, draped in flowing robes. She extends her right hand forward holding a patera, while her left hand rests upon a long vertical sceptre. The figure is rendered with careful attention to drapery folds, consistent with the classicising artistic style of Hadrian's early reign. The reverse legend runs around the upper and lower periphery of the flan, with IVSTITIA appearing in the exergue or lower field as the identifying type inscription. |
