| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, with characteristic short beard, rendered in fine high relief typical of early Hadrianic portraiture. The emperor's effigy displays a laurel wreath atop curly hair, with drapery visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The surrounding legend in Latin capitals reads IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the confident, classicizing style that marks the Roman imperial mint output of the early second century AD. |
