| Obverse description | Bare-headed and laureate bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, with short beard, the drapery visible at the shoulder truncation. The portrait displays the characteristic Hadrianic style with carefully rendered curled hair beneath the laurel wreath. The encircling legend reads IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG in raised Latin capitals, distributed around the full circumference of the flan. The flan is struck on a slightly irregular planchet, typical of hammered Roman coinage of the early second century AD. |
