| Beschrijving keerzijde | The goddess Pax is depicted seated left on a throne, draped in long robes with finely rendered folds falling to her feet. In her right hand she holds an olive branch extended forward, and in her left hand she holds a sceptre or cornucopiae resting against her shoulder. The figure is rendered with classical composure, embodying the Hadrianic ideological program of peace and imperial stability. The surrounding legend P M TR P COS III is distributed in the field around the figure, with letters visible to the left and right of the enthroned deity. The reverse type conforms closely to the standard Pax imagery employed at the Rome Mint during the early years of Hadrian's reign. |
