| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate and draped bust of Hadrian facing right, rendered with the emperor's characteristic short beard and carefully articulated curling hair beneath the laurel wreath. The portrait is executed in high relief in the confident, naturalistic style of the early Hadrianic period, with the drapery visible at the base of the truncation. The encircling legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan in crisp Latin capitals. |
