| 背面描述 | The sea-god Oceanus reclines to the left across the full width of the field, his semi-draped figure rendered in confident high relief. He holds a reed or sceptre upright in his right hand and rests his left arm upon a large vessel or urn from which water issues, symbolising the encircling world-ocean. The figure's muscular, expansive pose conveys the cosmic significance of the deity as personification of all surrounding seas, an image consonant with Hadrian's celebrated maritime travels. The abbreviated titulature P M TR P COS III is distributed around the periphery, with the legend partially flanking the figure on both sides. The plain exergue below the reclining deity is unadorned. |
