| Beschrijving keerzijde | Libertas, the personification of public freedom, seated left on a throne or chair, rendered in flowing drapery. In her extended right hand she holds an olive branch, and in her left hand a long vertical sceptre or vindicta (rod of freedom). The figure is depicted in a composed, majestic posture with careful attention to the folds of her garment. The legend is distributed in the field and along the exergue, with LIB PVB appearing below the figure. The composition is typical of the Hadrianic reverse types celebrating civic and imperial virtues. |
